CATHRINE LEGARDH & BRIAN KELLOCK;A musical collaboration spanning thirteen years and two albums. Charming, rhythmically astute and expressive jazz vocalist, Cathrine Legardh, performs popular and lesser-known standards accompanied by one of Europe’s finest jazz pianists, Scottish ’master of the keys’, Brian Kellock.;Cathrine Legardh was born in Denmark to Danish / Norwegian / Swedish parents. She left her career as a music teacher in 2006 for a professional singing career and studied in the UK with Fionna Duncan and New York with Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton. Legardh sings mainstream, cool and bebop standards, alongside old and new Nordic tunes and her own compositions. Her third album ‘Land & Sky’ was nominated as ‘Vocal Jazz Album of the Year’ at the Danish Music Awards and ‘Jazz Album of the Year’ at the Icelandic Music Awards in 2011 and she has performed across Scandinavia, the UK, USA, Iceland, Thailand and China.;Edinburgh-born Brian Kellock is widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest jazz pianists. Stylistically, he aligns himself with iconic figures such as Oscar Peterson or Monty Alexander, but he is a player who is equally at home in mainstream and contemporary jazz styles. He graduated with a BMus (Hons) from Edinburgh University in 1986 and since then he has worked with jazz luminaries such as Red Rodney, Sheila Jordan, Art Farmer, Stanley Turrentine, Herb Geller and many others. Kellock also tours with Australian trumpeter James Morrison’s band, but his main project is his own trio, whose first incarnation appeared in 1988. Kellock was recognized as one of the top ten young, jazz pianists in the world by Classic CD magazine in 2000 and ‘Jazz Musician of the Year’ at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in 2011.;www.legardh.dk;SINNE EEG & THOMAS FONNESBAEK DUO;Considered the pre-eminent jazz vocalist in Scandinavia, Sinne Eeg’s exquisite live performances have earned her fans around the world, most recently in a critically acclaimed tour of the USA earlier this year. Her 2014 album ‘Face the Music’ won the Danish Music Award for ’Best Jazz Vocal CD’, along with the Ben Webster Prize (as the first vocalist ever), and France’s prestigious Prix du Jazz. Influenced by American jazz greats like Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter, and Sarah Vaughan, Eeg also incorporates a “Scandinavian melancholy” into her music, yielding a distinct musical voice steeped in jazz tradition.;In 2015 Eeg and bassist Thomas Fonnesbæk released a superb vocal/bass album which commands a natural and distinguished place on the shortlist of fine vocal/bass collaborations (such as those between Sheila Jordan and bassists Steve Swallow and Arild Andersen). The result is a charming musical engagement between two virtuosic and original artists, bringing out the very best in each other in creative interpretations of classic standards and some lesser-known songs.;www.sinnemusic.com
