Event Details

Renowned worldwide for events that tell the stories behind the albums that have shaped our culture, and in some cases, our lives, Classic Album Sundays was started in 2010 by radio host, DJ and journalist Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy to give listeners the opportunity to enjoy music contextually, communally, uninterrupted, and in the best sonic detail possible. A day that brings together two landmark recordings that evoke a golden period of jazz in the late 50s and early 60s.

Jamaican saxophonist Joe Harriott arrived in the UK in 1951 and swiftly became established as a fluent bebop soloist. By the end of the 50s, he was moving into much more open musical territory, creating an approach to improvisation that was both rhythmically and melodically free, and with a band that included the St. Lucian trumpeter and writer Shake Keane and the great British drummer Phil Seamen.
