Event Details

Mark Jennett has received glowing reviews for his sophisticated reinterpretations of 20th century standards by writers as diverse as Cole Porter, Jule Styne, Randy Newman and Paul Simon. Jazzwise magazine described his latest album, ‘Everybody Says Don’t’ (Jazzizit), as “hugely enjoyable” and Jazz Rag praised his ability to “improvise in a manner that brings to mind Mark Murphy.”

His classic approach to jazz singing is matched by the subtly complex arrangements and bass playing of collaborator Geoff Gascoyne who has worked with an eclectic variety of world-class musicians including Paloma Faith, Michel Legrand, Van Morrison, Georgie Fame, The Mingus Big Band and Dianne Reeves and played a major part in the rise of Jamie Cullum with whom he worked exclusively from 2000 to 2007. Together they embrace a range of styles from exuberant swing to soulful balladry as well as gospel, hip hop, bossa nova and Motown-inflected pop.
