Richard Bona was first inspire to play electric bass by Jaco Pastorius. The Cameroon-born artist’s grooving ostinatos and rhythmic eruptions bring in jazz fans, but it’s Cuban and Caribbean dance music, Afrobeat and African traditional songs that give his music a much broader appeal.
