Event Details

As well as their own original compositions, QCBA & Dennis Rollins will pay special tribute to the great horn sections & groove jazz bands of the 60/70/80’s with their classic trumpet/sax/trombone front line sound reinterpreting material by such artists as JB Horns, Eddie Harris, Tower of Power, Brecker Brothers & Parliament. Expect jazz, funk and soul classics like ‘East River’, ‘Compared To What’, House Party’ and more, with new arrangements for a special LJF show.
From it’s organic roots in London, the group, QCBA has established itself on the European jazz scene as a formidable musical force – a Hammond driven quartet of virtuosos playing smart, contemporary original music, influenced by the great Blue Note era of the 1960s. QCBA are also noted for collaborating with a broad range of artists such as Liane Carroll, Omar, Paloma Faith, Hamish Stuart and Natalie Williams. Born in 1964 in the Midlands to Jamaican parents, Dennis Rollins cut his teeth at the age of 14 studying and performing with The Doncaster Youth Jazz Association. After years of study, Dennis moved to London and began playing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the legendary The Jazz Warriors. Over the years, Dennis has established a reputation as an artist of excellence, and has lent his unique and stylish talents to some of this country’s, and indeed the world’s, top jazz and pop personalities such as Courtney Pine, Baba Maal, Jamiroquai, US3, Brand New Heavies, and Blur. He is also currently a popular and crowd-pleasing member of Maceo Parker’s band as well as leading his own Bad Bone and Velocity Trio projects.
