Immy Churchill, the daughter of musicians Pete Churchill and Nikki Iles, came to the attention of a wider jazz audience with her performances with Norma Winstone and Dave Holland.
From school in Bedford she was recently awarded a scholarship to study jazz singing at RAM – the Royal Academy of Music, where she is now in the middle of a four year course and the only singer as one of just nine jazz students.
She embraces not only lyrical qualities but also the joys of singing wordlessly and improvising.
Immy’s previous concert venues include Pizza Express Live, The Green Note & The Royal Festival Hall. Most recently she has come to the attention of multi award-winning singer & pianist Liane Carroll, with whom she is sharing the stage at London’s Crazy Coqs earlier in November, also in the EFG London Jazz Festival, for an evening of jazz solo and duet performances.
Joining Immy for this concert are two young instrumental jazz stars, also studying at the RAM .
Scottie Thompson – Piano, has already performed at Ronnie Scott’s and last year played a set of original music with his trio as part of EFG London Jazz Festival.
Toby Yapp – Double Bass, has performed wIth ace bassist Dave Holland and is currently studying with New York’s Orlando Le Flemming, covering traditional and more modern jazz styles.
